Between Us Terms of Service

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

Age requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to use Between Us.

Between Us is a couples app designed for thriving couples who want to deepen connection through:

• Daily conversation prompts across 5 heat levels.
• Private answers and shared reveal flows.
• Journaling and saved prompt responses.
• Date night ideas and planning.
• Relationship memories and milestones.
• Vibe Signals and Moment Signals.
• Inside Jokes and relationship language features.
• Energy Matcher and Relationship Climate personalization.
• Year Reflection and recap features.
• Soft Boundaries and content controls.
• Calendar and event scheduling.
• Optional app lock with PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID where supported.
• Account sync, cloud continuity, and recovery features where available.

Between Us is not a therapy app, relationship repair tool, crisis service, or substitute for professional counseling, medical advice, legal advice, or safety planning. If your relationship involves abuse, coercion, threats, serious trust breakdowns, or safety concerns, seek help from qualified professionals or emergency resources.

3.1 Account Creation

• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
• You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
• One account is intended for one person and may not be shared.
• You are responsible for activity through your account unless caused by our failure to use reasonable security measures.

• You may link your account with one partner account at a time.
• Both partners must consent to linking.
• Either partner can unlink at any time.
• Unlinking dissolves the shared couple connection and stops future shared syncing.
• Unlinking does not automatically delete your separate account.

4.1 Your Content

• You retain ownership of content you create.
• You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, display, sync, transmit, and back up your content as needed to operate the Service.
• Content in a linked couple space may be visible to your linked partner according to the feature flow.
• We do not sell your personal data or relationship content.

Core synced content is protected by account authentication, Supabase row-level security, HTTPS/TLS, provider-side security controls, and app-level access controls. Between Us does not currently provide end-to-end encryption for core synced content. App lock, PIN, Face ID, and Touch ID help protect access on your device but do not make synced server content end-to-end encrypted.

You agree not to use the Service to create, upload, store, or share content that:

• Is illegal, harmful, fraudulent, or violates another person's rights.
• Contains malware or harmful code.
• Harasses, threatens, exploits, or abuses others.
• Violates applicable laws, regulations, or these Terms.

• Your linked partner can access shared couple-space content according to the feature flow.
• You are responsible for deciding what content is appropriate to create or share with your partner.
• You can delete supported content in the app.
• Deleting content or deleting your account may remove access according to the Privacy Policy and the app's deletion flow.

5.1 Free and Premium Features

• Free users can answer 1 guided prompt per day and preview prompts across Heat levels 1-5.
• Viewing or revealing limited free prompts and date ideas may count toward free usage limits.
• Free users can browse a limited weekly selection of date ideas and intimacy positions, fully plan 1 date flow per week, link with a partner, and export supported data.
• Premium unlocks a growing library of prompts, date ideas, and intimacy positions over time, with new content released to you weekly. It also adds calendar features, signals, recaps, inside-joke features, and other premium experiences shown in the app.
• One premium subscription is intended to cover both linked partners after entitlement sync completes.
• Current fallback display pricing in the app is Monthly: $7.99/month and Yearly: $49.99/year.
• Actual prices, trials, offers, taxes, and currency are shown by the App Store or RevenueCat purchase flow at the time of purchase and may vary by region or store configuration.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Monthly and yearly subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
• Restore purchases is available in the app for current subscribers.
• Depending on your location, you may have additional cancellation or withdrawal rights under applicable law and App Store policies.

• Premium is intended to support the linked-couple premium experience.
• When you subscribe, your linked partner may receive premium access after entitlement sync completes.
• If you unlink, your partner may lose shared premium access unless they subscribe separately.
• You retain your own premium subscription regardless of linking status.

• You can cancel monthly or yearly subscriptions through your app store account settings.
• Access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period unless the App Store indicates otherwise.
• Refund requests and billing issues are handled by Apple under Apple's policies and applicable law.
• We cannot directly issue App Store refunds.

You agree to use Between Us only for lawful relationship connection, reflection, planning, and personal use.

You may not:

• Do not use the service for any illegal purpose.
• Do not attempt to access another person's account or data.
• Do not reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where law expressly allows.
• Do not use automated systems to scrape, overload, or abuse the Service.
• Do not impersonate others or provide false information.
• Do not interfere with the Service's operation or security.
• Do not use the Service to harass, exploit, coerce, threaten, or harm others.

7.1 Our Content

• Prompts, date ideas, designs, branding, interfaces, and app content are owned by Between Us or its licensors.
• You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or exploit our content except as allowed by the Service.
• Our trademarks and branding are protected.

• You own your personal content.
• We do not claim ownership of your relationship entries, answers, or memories.
• You can export or delete supported content as described in the app and Privacy Policy.

• We use authentication, secure transport, row-level access controls, and provider-side security controls.
• Core synced content is not currently end-to-end encrypted.
• Device data is limited to cache, pending offline writes, notification ids, and app-lock enabled state.
• Some content and settings are cached locally for offline use and may sync later.
• We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to unsynced local drafts or queued writes.

9.1 Service Availability

• We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
• We may update, suspend, or discontinue features.
• We are not liable for service interruptions to the maximum extent permitted by law.

• Between Us is for connection, reflection, planning, and entertainment.
• We do not provide medical, therapeutic, legal, financial, emergency, crisis, safety, or professional advice.
• We are not responsible for relationship outcomes.
• A licensed therapist, counselor, attorney, emergency service, or other qualified professional is the right resource for serious concerns.

• Prompts, date ideas, recommendations, and app content are provided "as is".
• We do not guarantee that content will be accurate, complete, suitable, or appropriate for every couple or circumstance.
• Use your own judgment and respect your partner's boundaries.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
• We are not liable for data loss caused by your actions, device issues, app store issues, third-party service outages, or failure to maintain account/device security.
• Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some limits may not apply to you.

10.1 By You

• You can stop using the Service at any time.
• You can delete your account in the app.
• Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone once completed.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms.
• Engage in fraud, abuse, harassment, or illegal activity.
• Create risk to the Service, other users, or third parties.

• Your access to the Service may end immediately.
• Data deletion and retention are handled according to our Privacy Policy.
• Paid subscriptions are handled by the App Store and may require cancellation through your Apple account.
• Sections that should reasonably survive termination will continue to apply.

• We may update these Terms from time to time.
• We may notify you of material changes through the app, email, updated legal documents, or App Store metadata where appropriate.
• Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
• If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

If you have a dispute or concern about the service, contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it may be handled in a court or other forum with proper jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.

13.1 Entire Agreement

• These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Between Us for the Service.

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.

You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights to a successor or affiliate.

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
